Heather Morris from Glee has posed for some strange photos where she is sporting a black eye. Tyler Shields, who took the photo, calls it "Even Barbie Bruises."
Many have complained that it glamorizes violence towards women. Critic Piper Weiss is calling for a protest against the fashion industry:
"Isn't turning a young actress into a doll enough of a talker without also beating her up? At this point, it's not even worth a debate to add more fuel to the fire. What needs to happen is an internal snub from the fashion industry to assert that that kind of attention-baiting is unacceptable. It's become an industry-standard publicity measure, and one that wouldn't fly in any other field. Fashion thrives on controversy, but abuse against women isn't even controversial, it's just off limits."
Shields has issued an apology, but defends the concept. He says 30% of the proceeds from two of the less edgy photos will be donated to a homeless charity. 100% of the proceeds from three other close-ups photos, signed by Shields, will got o a domestic violence organization. Bidding will start at $100,000.
